To the Editor:
With the Verona BOE Elections coming up, we plan to cast one of our two votes to Michael Boone. Through his sensitivity and experience, Mike has a winning platform that ensures that all of our students feel safe and treasured. Diversity, equity, and inclusion for students means: appreciating students’ different learning styles; respecting families’ diverse cultural roots; understanding students as they explore gender identity; celebrating alternative family compositions; grappling with disparities in family income, and much more.
Some of us in town have been blessed with an abundance of riches; others of us have had to make more efforts to gather resources. No matter where we fall on that continuum, we must make sure that nobody is shamed and that all of us are working together to educate today’s students to be to be tomorrow’s leaders. A vote for Mike Boone makes all of us winners!
