Essex Offroad, the youth mountain biking club team founded in Verona in 2017, is recruiting new students and coaches for the 2023 season. Participation is open to all Essex County students in grades 6 to 12.

There’s going to be a “Try It Out” ride this Saturday, October 29, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Cedar Grove Community Park on Slattery Drive, as well as an information session on Wednesday, November 9, from 7 to 8 p.m. in the Verona Community Center ballroom.

Essex Offroad, which is part of the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA), will compete in races organized by the New Jersey Interscholastic Cycling League. The team is co-ed with no cuts. Scholarships and loaner bikes are available, and riders can just ride with friends and not compete in the races. Weekly practices begin in December and racing is held in the spring.

For more information, see this flyer or the team’s Facebook page.
