To the Editor:
My husband and I moved to Verona 14 years ago. We moved here because of Verona’s
reputation for its amazing sense of community, its charming downtown, and most importantly, for its excellent school district. Verona is the place that we have chosen to raise our children and we are proud to be residents of this incredible town.
Throughout the COVID shutdown, the inequities of Verona’s school district, most importantly in the special education department, became evident. As a special education teacher, I was often frustrated at the miscommunication and lack of direction provided by the administrators in the special services department. Verona’s children deserve individuals on the Board of Education and in the Special Services Department that are aware of best practices and laws pertaining to education. Denise Verzella is exactly that person.
Ms. Verzella is running for Board of Education. She is a special education attorney. Her life is committed to helping families receive the best possible education for their children. She has spent time learning about best practices in school districts throughout New Jersey. In short, Ms. Verzella is an expert on what a school district should do for each and every student and how the district should do those things. Ms. Verzella is who we need on our Board of Education.
Ms. Verzella is committed to helping all of Verona’s students. She pledges to provide her
insights to the board. She also hopes to help the district start a true gifted and talented
program. Ms. Verzella is committed to using her experience and expertise to do that.
On November 8th, my husband and I will be voting for Denise Verzella for Verona Board of
Education. I am confident that this is the right vote for Verona. Ms. Verzella’s vision for our
school district will strengthen our schools.
