Marie Bevere Kraeutler of Tinton Falls, N.J. died on October 17, at the Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune after a brief illness. She spent her final hours with her son Eric and daughter Carol at her bedside.

Born in 1923, Mrs. Kraeutler graduated from Nutley High School and began working at The Prudential in Newark. She married the love of her life, Jack, on November 11, 1944, between Jack’s service in the European (including D-Day) and Pacific theaters during World II.

In 1951, the Kraeutlers moved to Verona, where Mrs. Kraeutler became active in various organizations. She was a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit, served as a poll worker on election days, and was a founding member of the Verona Community Pool Board of Directors, which designed and managed the construction of that facility.

In 1985, Mrs. Kraeutler and her husband moved to Pheasant Run in Forked River, N.J. where in retirement they continued to enjoy being near the shore. Mrs. Kraeutler was an excellent cook and delighted in preparing wonderful meals for her family and friends. She had a knack for foraging for clams, mussels and crabs, and she always had a large vegetable garden. Mrs. Kraeutler will always be remembered for her forthright opinions, her love of life and her enduring love for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her three children: Jack Kraeutler of Cincinnati, Ohio, Eric Kraeutler of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Carol Lerner of Chatham, N.J., as well as seven grandchildren, and six great-children. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tunnels to Towers.
