Irene (nee Richards) E. Capozzi of Union and Bradley Beach, N.J. passed away peacefully on October 11, 2022 at her home, surrounded by loved ones. She was 80 years old.

Private services were held.

Born in Glen Ridge and raised in Verona, Mrs. Capozzi moved to Union in 1972 and also maintained a home in Bradley Beach for many years.

She graduated from Lacordaire Academy in Upper Montclair with the Class of 1960.

For 18 years Mrs. Capozzi worked as a jail probation investigator for Union County in Elizabeth.

She was a lifelong artist with a preference for oil painting.

Mrs. Capozzi was predeceased by her husband, Frank; her parents, Bernard and Elizabeth (nee Feeley) Richards; and her sisters, Elizabeth Guarducci and Patricia Allan.

She is survived by her children, Joelle Brotman, Marta Rego-Capozzi and Kevin Capozzi; her grandchildren, Rachel Haberer (Mike), Sarah Sheppard, Emily Haidle and US Army Sgt. Nicholas Deitrich; and her great-grandchildren, Logan, Aidan, Morrigan, Daniel and Loki. She is also survived by her sisters, Bernadette Brotman and Rosellen Ziefle.
