John J. Bahr, 67

Mr. John J. Bahr, 67, died peacefully on August 29, 2022 at his home in Charleston, SC.

Visiting will be in the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona, NJ on Thursday, October 20, 2022 from 10:00 to 11 a.m. with a service at 11 a.m.

Born in Montclair, NJ, John grew up in Verona. He graduated from Fishburne Military Academy in 1974.

He began working in the family business, Charles Bahr & Son, Inc. on Durrell Street in Verona, after graduation and eventually assumed full responsibility. In 2015, he retired and moved with his family to Charleston, South Carolina.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Susan; his daughters, Amelia (Stephen Polledri) and Samantha; and his beloved grandpuppies. He is also survived by his siblings, Joanne Bahr, Charles Bahr, III (Christine Bahr), Catherine Bahr, Michael Bahr (June Kelly), Edward Halligan, Margaret Page Gambe (Steven Gambe) and Kevin Halligan; his in-laws and a large and loving extended family.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Hollings Cancer Center, MUSC Foundation, 18 Bee Street MSC 450, Charleston, SC 29425 would be greatly appreciated. Please make checks payable to Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) Foundation and include “Hollings Cancer Center” in the check memo.
