The Hilltop Grasshopper Kids Bike Race will be held again this August, but on a new course below the Cedar Grove Community Center on Fairview Avenue.
The race will take place on Saturday, August 13, and registration is now open. The cost is $10 per biker. Registration and inspection opens at 7:30 a.m. and closes 15 minutes before start of each age category.
This course is for both new and experienced riders, and any bike with fatter tires will work. Hilltop Grasshopper mechanics will inspect all bikes for safety and last-minute race tuning. A parent or guardian must be present to sign a waiver and must be present during the race.
The course length and start times vary according to age. Kindergarten and first grade boys and girls will do 0.5 miles beginning at 9 a.m., while boys and girls in sixth to eighth grade will tackle a 1.8 mile course beginning at 11 a.m. There will be medals for the top three finishers in each class after each race.
