Mrs. Susana Sanchez-Grey Galtieri died on June 6, 2022 at the home of her sister. She was 94 years old.
Visiting in the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona will be on Friday, June 10 from 9 am to 10:15 am, followed by a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of the Lake Church, Verona at 10:30 am.
Born in Havana, Cuba, Mrs. Galtieri came to the U.S. in 1961 and lived in Verona and Monroe Township before returning to Verona in 2020.
She has a law Ddegree from the University of Havana and served as a judge in the Oriente Province prior to fleeing Cuba in 1961.
When she arrived in the U.S., she began a career in teaching at Immaculate Conception High School in Montclair and received a Master’s degree from Rutgers University.
Mrs. Galtieri was a member of Circulo de Cultura Panamericano and had a keen interest in the preservation of the culture, life and history of Cuba.
She is predeceased by her husband, Joseph Galtieri and is survived by her sister, Esther Sanchez-Grey Alba and her nephew, Tomas Castellanos.
