A Crossing Guard Gets Flocked

Flocks of plastic flamingoes have been appearing on lawns all over Verona as part of the Spotlight Players annual Flamingo Flocking Fundraiser. But this morning a flock appeared at the corner of Elmwood Road and Claremont Avenue to show their appreciation for the town’s unsung heroes: crossing guards.

Steve, who mans the corner, is known for decorating “his” corner with balloons for the holidays. Today, the Spotlight Players and Spotlight Players Parents Association thank him for his work in keeping us safe.

The fundraiser continues through Sunday June 12 and a flock of a dozen flamingos are available for $20. They roost for approximately 24 hours before flying away. (So they won’t be on Steve’s corner for long.) To order a flock simply fill out the form. Payment may be made via Venmo @VHS-Spotlight-Players.
