Giulia Licitra, 2018 graduate of Verona High Schoo, and Jenna Gabbe, VHS ‘20, completed the 17-mile overnight walk in NYC for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention on Saturday. The dusk-to-dawn walk raises awareness of AFSP’s research into mental health and its work to support people affected by suicide.

The two young women walked in honor of their cousin Vanya Citrano, a Verona teen who died by suicide in 2016, as well as Dan Cooney, another Verona resident, and a friend, Nick Glassman.

As of 5 a.m., when Licitra and Gabbe completed the walk, AFSP had raised $2.85 million.
