Feast Of Saint Anthony Returns June 11

After a COVID hiatus, Verona’s Saint Anthony of Padua Club will once again hold its procession and celebration on Saturday, June 11.

The procession, which includes an 8-piece Italian brass band, begins at 5 p.m. on Hamilton Road. If you wish to march in the procession, you should contact Peter at 201-341-1195. The celebration takes place at 30 Hamilton Road and is open to everyone; no payment is required to participate and participants do not need to be a devotee of Saint Anthony.

Portugal-born Fernando Martins de Bulhões became a Franciscan friar and later chose to preach in the northern Italian town of Padua. He died in Padua in 1231 and was canonized as Saint Anthony by Pope Gregory IX in 1232.
