Girls Lax Gets Senior Day Win

The Verona High School girls lacrosse team celebrated its Senior Night on Monday, May 9, with a 10-6 win over Saddle River Day School. It was Verona’s 11th win of the season, making its overall record 11-4.

Senior Ella Moore led the scoring with 4 goals and 1 assist. Junior Clara Nippes followed with 3 goals and 1 assist, while fellow junior Briget Lonsinger netted 2 goals and 1 assist, and freshman Jane Sorger got on the scoreboard with 1 goal. On the defensive end, junior Brooke Rienecker contributed 8 ground balls and 4 forced turnovers. Senior goalies Ava Keating and Meaghan Haughney combined for 10 saves.

Many members of the Verona lacrosse community, including the youth lacrosse programs, came out to support the team creating a very festive atmosphere. The following seniors were honored last night: Marykate Dougherty, Meaghan Haughney, Emma Hogan, Ava Keating, Grace Madigan, Ella Moore and Annalie Ying.
