This past weekend, Verona Competitive Cheerleading completed its final national competition of its sixth season. This season, Verona Competitive Cheerleading (VCC), had three teams of athletes that ranged from grades 1 to 12. Its Elite, Silver and Maroon teams competed in five national competitions, and six New Jersey-based competitions. From the organization’s inception, VCC has taught athletes the most competitive cheerleading skills including high level tumbling passes, advanced stunting skills, a variety of jumps and the basics of competitive cheerleading.

Some of the highlights this season included winning a bid at a varsity competition in Trenton that invited the Elite team to complete at the Quest National Competition at the ESPN Wide World of Sports in Orlando, Florida; bringing all three VCC teams to compete at the Reach the Beach Competition in Ocean City, Maryland; and finishing the season with the level 1 Maroon Team in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

VCC’s first graduating class, for whom the organization was started, is moving on to their college careers. “The skills, teamwork, and sisterhood they have obtained in the last six years have created life skills and lifetime friendships that will follow them forever, and will leave a lasting impression on our organization,” says Karen Jandoli, a VCC organizer. “We hope their shining example will continue to motivate future VCC athletes.”
