Girls lacrosse celebrates Ella Moore’s 100th career goal, a milestone made even more significant by the fact that the pandemic had deprived the team of a 2020 season.

Verona High School girls lacrosse edged Montclair 13-12 earlier today in a tightly contested game on Sellitto Field.

The first half was tied 5-5 when a heavy downpour caused a 30-minute rain delay. In the second half, Montclair went up 12-8, but momentum swung when Ella Moore scored her 100th career goal and Verona rallied to tie the game at 12 apiece. Then, with just six seconds remaining, Moore scored again to secure the win.

Bridget Lonsinger led all scorers with six goals, followed by Moore with four goals, Clara Nippes with two, and Jane Sorger with one.

The girls’ next game is on Monday, April 11, 4 p.m. at Kent Place.
