Verona High School girls lacrosse edged Montclair 13-12 earlier today in a tightly contested game on Sellitto Field.
The first half was tied 5-5 when a heavy downpour caused a 30-minute rain delay. In the second half, Montclair went up 12-8, but momentum swung when Ella Moore scored her 100th career goal and Verona rallied to tie the game at 12 apiece. Then, with just six seconds remaining, Moore scored again to secure the win.
Bridget Lonsinger led all scorers with six goals, followed by Moore with four goals, Clara Nippes with two, and Jane Sorger with one.
The girls’ next game is on Monday, April 11, 4 p.m. at Kent Place.
Girls lax was lagging when Ella Moore scored her 100th career goal today. That was the energy Verona needed to tie the game against Montclair. And then, with just 6 seconds remaining, Moore scored for the big win. @VeronaAthletics @veronaglax pic.twitter.com/mgUxUCozQB
