Robert Alan Gaccione, 52 of Verona died suddenly on Monday, April 4, 2022. He was born in Belleville and resided in Verona for most of his life.

Bob’s life touched so many and he was loved by all that knew him. He was generous to a fault and the first to lend a hand to those in need. He was a larger-than-life presence that captivated every room. Bob could go anywhere in the world and run into someone that knew him. His quick wit, trademark sense of humor and gregarious nature drew in everyone around him.

An impeccable dresser, whether it was for a business meeting or heading to Henry’s for his morning coffee, Bob always looked sharp and stylish. He will be remembered for his warm heart, kind smile and his ability to forge a genuine connection with anyone that met him.

Bob had a long and successful career in banking, most recently working as the director of commercial lending for NJ Lenders in Little Falls. He also owned and operated several businesses throughout his career. He was a natural athlete who immediately excelled at any sport he played. He was an exceptional golfer, presently belonging to Essex County Country Club and also Forest Hill Field Club for many years. He loved playing softball, and nothing brought him more joy than playing golf, baseball, tennis and pickle ball with his dad and sons.

Bob graduated from Seton Hall Preparatory School (’88) where he was captain of the golf team. He attended Seton Hall University and he remained dedicated to the Seton Hall family as an adult, serving on the board of the Griffin Bridges Program. He also served as the vice chairman of the Clara Maass Medical Center Foundation and was co-chairman of the Tasteful Experience and the Clara Maass Annual Golf Outing.

Anyone who met Bob would immediately know how important family was to him. He was a wonderful father to his sons Luke and Will, and to his wife’s children, Isabella and Joey. The love he had for all his children was something he proudly wore on his sleeve. He was a devoted husband, father, son and brother that loved fiercely.

Bob is survived by his loving wife Julie DeRosa, his children Luke, Will, Isabella and Joey, his ex-wife Courtney Gaccione, his loving parents Bob and Lois, his sister Suzanne, his Aunt Marilyn and Uncle Emil D’Angelo, and their children and grandchildren, his Uncles John Hlavacek and Gregg Hlavacek, as well as many other cousins, aunts and uncles.

The funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 12, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Church in Verona, interment will be held at Glendale Cemetery in Bloomfield. Visitors will be received at the S.W. Brown and Son Funeral Home, 267 Centre Street, Nutley on Monday 2 p.m.-8 p.m.
