The Verona High School girls lacrosse team won its first game of the season on Thursday 11-9, away against Scotch Plains.
Bridget Lonsinger scored four goals and had four assists for Verona. Ella Moore, Clara Nippes and Jane Sorger all had two goals apiece; Mary Kate Doherty scored one. Goalie Ava Keating had six saves, and Goalie Meaghan Haughney had four.
The team has its home opener tomorrow against Montclair Kimberly Academy at 3 p.m. on Sellitto Field.
In other VHS sports news, boys lacrosse fell to Livingston 18-1 in its opener on Wednesday. Baseball has its first game today, away at West Orange. Softball opens at home against Mount Saint Dominic and track has its first meet in Cedar Grove. All of the Friday events start at 4 p.m.
