The Verona Police Department has posted a video of a car theft captured by security cameras on Bloomfield Avenue at about 12:40 p.m.
The owner left the car unattended outside a Bloomfield Avenue business with the key fob inside for about 30 seconds, the VPD says. According to the department, statewide motor vehicle thefts are up 31%, and most cars that are stolen are used to commit other property crimes and violent crimes.
The VPD is reminding everyone to lock their cars.
