Mrs. Gina M. Thomas, 92, died peacefully on February 8, 2022 in Cedar Grove. Friends are invited to gather at Our Lady of the Lake Church, Lakeside Ave., Verona from 2 to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 12. Born and raised in Newark, Mrs. Thomas lived in Belleville before moving to Verona in 1987.
She worked as a manager for NJ Bell in Cranford, N.J. A devoted member of Our Lady of the Lake Parish, Mrs. Thomas served her faith community as a lector, Eucharistic Minister and CCD teacher. She was also a member of the Rosary Society.
Mrs. Thomas will be fondly remembered as a proud Sicilian whose compassion touched many lives. She had a generous spirit and a collection of angels, which she freely shared with her family and friends.
Mrs. Thomas was predeceased by her parents, Philip and Providenza La Via, her sister, Gertrude Giffoniello and brother, Carmen P. La Via.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years, Robert Thomas; her nephew and niece, James and Eileen Giffoniello; great-niece, Maria; great-nephew, Joseph; and many loving friends and neighbors.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Our Lady of the Lake Endowment Trust, 22 Lakeside Avenue, Verona, NJ 07044 would be appreciated.
