Get out your ice skates, people. Essex County is opening outdoor skating in two of its parks.
Skating in Caldwell’s Grover Cleveland Park kicked off today, January 21 from 3 to 8 p.m. Tomorrow, January 22, you can skate on the lake in Verona Park from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Grover Cleveland will be open during those hours as well.
The county generally opens the full pond at Grover Cleveland. In Verona, you will be skating in front of the boathouse on the northern part of the lake.
Outdoor skating will continue as long as the weather stays cold enough to keep everything frozen. So keep an eye on the Twitter feed of County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo Jr. or the signs at the entrance to both parks.
There is also outdoor skating on the pond in Essex Fells on Fells Road near Way, a location that tends to be a favorite for hockey skaters. Keep an eye out for an announcement from Cedar Grove about the pond at Morgan’s Farm.
