Boys Basketball Defeats Cedar Grove In Jandoli Scholarship Game

Alex Rodriguez had a career-high 21 points in the 55-33 Verona win.

Alex Rodriguez took home the MVP award and Jessie Loudon took home a $1,000 scholarship as Verona defeated Cedar Grove in the Jimmy Jandoli Tip-Off. on Saturday The game, held at Caldwell University, was organized by Team Hill Foundation to fund scholarships in honor of Jandoli, a Cedar Grove native who lived in Verona until his passing in 2019.

Rodriguez put up 21 points of Verona’s 55 points, a career high. Cael Zebrowski was close behind with 19. The win improves Verona’s record to 5-4. The boys travel to Caldwell on Tuesday afternoon.

Also yesterday, VHS girls basketball lost a 33-28 squeaker to Mount St. Dominic. Sabine Matta led the scoring with 14 points. The girls host Newark Central on Tuesday.
