John Stockleberg delivered a 3-2 win in overtime

The Verona High School wrestling team scored a big 51-17 win over Cedar Grove yesterday.

Derek Bernardino, wrestling at 132, pinned Kenneth Cilento in 2:16 and Matt Steitz (138) pinned Adolfo Cadillo in 3:22. Jayden Czupak’s opponent, Santino Catalano, barely got time to step on the mat before Czupak (175) pinned him in just 17 seconds. It took Nick Handler (190) only a few seconds more to pin James Cantarelli.

Jake Ferry (150) scored a 6-1 decision over Chris Babcock and James Ortiz (165) battled to a 5-3 victory over Robert Kelly.

The evening was capped by an OT 3-2 win for Verona heavyweight John Stockelberg over Mark Ratel. Verona improves to 2-4 with the win and will host Belleville next Wednesday.
