Beginning in January, the Verona Public Library will be open late on Wednesday, giving it evening hours four nights a week. To do that, it’s slightly trimming its evening hours on three other nights.
The new schedule calls for the library to be open Monday to Thursday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., and then from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Right now, the library closes on Wednesdays at 5 p.m. and it remains open on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday until 9 p.m.
The shift in hours will mean a change of schedule for at least one of the groups that meets at the library. Knit for a Need, the charity crafting group, will start its Thursday evenings at 6:30 p.m. instead of 7 p.m. beginning January 6. The group is creating hats, scarves, mittens and blankets for the homeless and for refugees being resettled in New Jersey.
