Verona floral designer Blooms In Hand won the Local Business category in the annual scarecrow contest at the Van Vleck House and Gardens in Montclair. The scarecrow created by Blooms In Hand owner Anna Coy was called “October Bride”.

Winners of the contest, which included individual and group categories, are given $500 to donate to a charity of their choosing and Blooms in Hand will donate its winnings to the Human Needs Food Pantry in Montclair.

Blooms in Hand opened in Verona in the fall of 2017 as a subscription delivery service for flowers. It also uses its space at 228 Claremont Avenue to run a variety of seasonal floral arranging classes.
