Schools are open and Verona needs more crossing guards to help children to safely walk or bike to school. In addition to aiding children in safely crossing the street, crossing guards help children develop the skills necessary to cross streets safely on their own. In addition, crossing guards serve as a visual alert to drivers about the presence of children.

Applicants for the position must be a citizen and a New Jersey resident; be of good health and in good physical condition, including sight, hearing, and ability to move quickly to avoid danger; and be of good moral character. Both full-time and part-time positions are available.

The salary is $15 to $19 per hour and guards work a maximum of 12.5 hours a week.

Interested candidates should contact the Verona Police Department Records Bureau at 973-857-4814 or via email at [email protected].
