October is breast cancer awareness month and the Minetteās Angels Foundation, the Verona-based charity that supports breast cancer patients, will hold its 7th annual “Real Panthers Wear Pink” fundraising walk on Thursday, October 21, in Panther Park from 6 to 8 p.m.
The suggested donation, $20, will be collected at the gate on the day of the event. Cash and checks only, and checks should be made payable to the Township of Cedar Grove. The first 150 $20 donations will receive a t-shirt. Minette’s Angels masks will be provided by the Minetteās Angels Foundation.
The event will include a live DJ and refreshments. The Cedar Grove Public Library will hold a crafts table for kids. There will also be temporary tattoos and balloon items.
Stacy Davis, a yoga instructor, will hold a free, socially distanced yoga class in the end zone near Bradford Avenue from 6:30 to 7 p.m.
You can register for the walk through Cedar Grove’s Community Pass site.
To be a sponsor of the walk or to make a donation, please use this form.
If you are a breast cancer survivor, or you know one, you can add a name to the event’s dedication banner by sending an email to [email protected]. If the name is already on the banner, you do not have to add it again, but the group is asking people to let them know if anyone currently on the banner is no longer a survivor.
The Minetteās Angels Foundation honors Minette Grosso McKenna, a Verona resident and nurse who died in 2003 after a long battle against breast cancer. In addition to its work for breast cancer patients and their families, the Foundation provides scholarships to Seton Hall Universityās College of Nursing and it funds the pink gear that Verona High School athletes wear in every October for breast cancer awareness month.
