Verona’s public schools open for the 2021-2022 school year on Thursday, September 9.
School hours are as follows:
- Verona High School (Grades 9-12) 8:15 a.m. to 2:47 p.m.
- H. B. Whitehorne Middle School (Grades 5-8) 8:30 a.m. to 2:56 p.m.
- Elementary Schools:
- Grades K-4 8:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.
- Pre-School (a.m. groups) 9 to 11:30 a.m. and (p.m. group) 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.
- Pre-K All Day Class 8:30 a.m. – 2:45 p.m.
School offices will be open to register students for the new term from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and from 1 to 3 p.m. on August 31, and September 1, 2, 3, in each school.
Students entering school for the first time must present an official birth certificate and a doctor’s certificate showing required immunizations. Students transferring from another school district should present report cards and immunizations records.
Notification of closing Verona schools due to inclement weather or other conditions:
When it becomes necessary to close the Verona Schools because of inclement weather or other emergency conditions, parents will receive a call from our School Messenger System, our website will be updated at www.veronaschools.org , an announcement will be made on the television Good Day New York/Channel 5, and News 12 New Jersey. In addition, arrangements have been made locally to sound the fire horn when schools are closed. There will be three blasts of the fire horn at 7 a.m. followed by an additional three blasts at 7:05 a.m. In the event that a delayed opening is necessary, each parent will receive instructions as to time schedules following the commencement of school.
Supervision of the elementary school lunch program will be provided on the first day of school, Thursday, September 9.
