Velera Brady, Former Resident

Mrs. Velera (nee Le Maitre) Brady, died on Friday, July 9, 2021 at the Center for Hope Hospice in Scotch Plains, N.J.

Visiting will be on Friday, July 16 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Ave., Verona. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 17 at 11 a.m. in Restland Memorial Park, 77 DeForest Ave., East Hanover.

Born in Newark and raised in Arlington, N.J., Mrs. Brady graduated from Kearny High School in 1946. She resided in Verona for 59 years before moving to Cranford in 2018. She worked for A.W. Marshall & Company in Newark where she met her husband, Edward Brady, marrying in 1953. Mrs. Brady served as the secretary at First Church of Christ, Scientist in Montclair for over 30 years.

Mrs. Brady was an active member of the Verona Woman’s Club and the First Church of Christ, Scientist in Montclair. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and flower arranging.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 55 years, Edward F. Brady; her parents, Arthur and Veleria (nee Woodruff) Le Maitre; and her brother, Glenn Le Maitre.

She is survived by her loving children, Craig E. Brady and wife, Maureen and Lynne W. Baumann and husband, Jeff. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Jeffrey M. Baumann, Jr., Katelyn H. Baumann and Taylor E. Brady and her niece and nephews, Sue Tansey, Jim Brady and Glenn Le Maitre.

In lieu of flowers, donations to First Church of Christ, Scientist, 8 Hillside Ave. Suite 101, Montclair, NJ 07042 would be greatly appreciated.
