Mr. Michael A. Pierro, 63, died on July 3, 2021 at the Overlook Hospital in Summit.

Visiting will be at the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona on Sunday, July 11 from 1 to 2 p.m., with a prayer service at 2 p.m. A celebration of his life will follow at the Village Restaurant, 22 Gibraltar Drive, Morris Plains, N.J. from 3 to 7 p.m.

Born in Passaic, he lived in Lyndhurst, Verona and Georgia prior to moving back to Basking Ridge.

Mike graduated from Verona High School in 1975 and will be remembered for his love of music, especially the guitar, his time with the Renegades Softball team in Georgia, his love for this great country and exploring the rivers of Georgia by kayak.

Above all else Mike will be remembered for the love that he always had for his family and friends, especially his wife, Nancy (nee Gordon) Pierro; his sons, Michael (Mallory) and Joseph; his grandsons Austin and Grayson; his sister, Lisa Pierro-Ramos (Rafael); his niece, Alexandra Alberti, and his uncles, aunts and cousins.

Mike was predeceased by his parents, George and Phyllis (nee Milici) Pierro and his brother, Joseph Pierro.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory would be appreciated to the V Foundation for Cancer Research, 14600 Weston Parkway, Cary, NC 27513, started by Jimmy Valvano, whose quote, “don’t give up, don’t ever give up” is the motto Mike lived by, or to the Bernards Parents Of Exceptional Children, Bernards PEC, 5 Lyons Mall #160, Basking Ridge, NJ 07920, which is a local organization that Mike’s son Joseph, who has autism, benefits from the activities and programs they develop.
