Mr. John J. Puleo, 82, died on June 28, 2021 at his home in Verona. A funeral mass will be offered in Our Lady of the Lake Church, Verona on Thursday, July 1 at 10:30 a.m.
Born and raised in Newark, Mr. Puleo lived in East Orange before moving to Verona in 1965. He graduated from West Side High School in Newark.
He was a computer programmer with PNC Bank in Cedar Knolls. In retirement he was a Verona crossing guard, stationed at Sunset Avenue and Wayland Drive.
Mr. Puleo was active with the Verona Ambulance Unit in its early days. He was also a member of Our Lady of the Lake Parish.
He was predeceased by his parents, Dominic Puleo and Madeline (nee Alfieri) Araniecke and brother-in-law, Walter Hermann.
Mr. Puleo is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Constance “Connie” (nee Milici) Puleo; loving children, Lynne Brunello (Michael), Loren DeNicola (Vincent) and John J. Puleo, Jr.; and cherished grandchildren, Kristen Brunello, Dani Brunello (Zoran Koroskoski), Marissa DeNicola and Tommy DeNicola; and great-granddaughter, Mikayla Koroskoska. He is also survived by his sister, Josephine Hermann and dearly loved nieces, Elaine, Loren and Nicole Staselewicz.
