With a heat wave bearing down on Verona, the town has designated the Verona Public Library as a cooling center for anyone who needs a place to get out of the heat. The Library will be open until 9 p.m. tonight and tomorrow, Wednesday, June 29, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Verona officials are recommending that people stay at home if they have air conditioning, or go to a place that has AC, and they are asking everyone to check on vulnerable friends, family members and neighbors. If you have to work outside, take frequent breaks in a shaded or air-conditioned environment.

Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. If heatstroke is suspected, call 911 immediately.
