Mr. Walter O. Johnson, 79, died on June 21, 2021 in Toms River.
Visiting will be held at the Prout Funeral Home (370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona) on Monday, June 28, 2021 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated in Our Lady of the Lake Church, Verona at 12:45 p.m. with interment to follow at Restland Memorial Park in East Hanover.
Born in Montclair and raised in Verona, Mr. Johnson lived in West Caldwell before moving to Toms River. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1960 until 1964 and later worked with his father as a carpenter. Mr. Johnson was a proud member of Carpenters Local 253 and the West Essex Horseshoe Club.
He was predeceased by his parents, Evald and Hanna (nee Svensson) Johnson and his son, Justin Johnson.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Janice (nee Rothhardt) Johnson; sons, George Johnson (Michelle) and Luke Johnson (Adrienne); grandchildren, Victoria Johnson, Olivia Johnson, Brett Johnson; Luke Johnson, Jr, Tyler Johnson, Cameron Johnson, sister, Sue Nicoluzzio and cousin, Bobby Svensson.
