Only about 2.5% of all Boy Scouts achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. You can now count Matthew Siegel among them.
Verona High School senior was awarded the ultimate rank at a Court of Honor Ceremony on Sunday, May 16. His Eagle Scout project involved designing and building four large storage containers for the Essex County Environmental Center, as well as a new information kiosk board at the Hilltop Reservation.
During his time in scouting Siegel has served as quartermaster, assistant senior patrol leader and senior patrol leader. He says his favorite memory of scouting is attending Camp Turrell in the summer with his troop.
Siegel, who is also an active youth member at the Verona Rescue Squad, will be majoring in music education at Rutgers University in the fall.
Sincere congratulations Matthew…and similar praise to your family and leaders that helped you on the trail to Eagle. All the best at Rutgers and remember, achieving your Eagle Scout brings with it great responsibility to lead through life.
My best regards,
Jack Kraeutler
