Mr. Joseph P. McCann, Sr. passed away peacefully on May 7, 2021 in Fairfield, N.J. Visiting will be in the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona on Monday, May 10 from 4 to 7 p.m. A funeral mass will be offered at St. Aloysius Church, 210 Bloomfield Ave., Caldwell on Tuesday, May 11 at 9:30 am. Facial masks and social distancing required at the funeral home and church.

Born and raised in New Rochelle, N.Y., Mr. McCann lived in North Arlington and Verona prior to moving to Caldwell in 2006.

He graduated from St. Michael’s College in Vermont in 1955 and was a sales manager for Peerless Tube Company in Bloomfield for over 30 years, retiring in September 1996.

Mr. McCann served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1958.

He was predeceased by his wife, Ellen (nee McKeon) McCann and his infant grandson, Ryan, his parents and siblings.

He is survived by his children, Joseph (Jay) McCann, Jr. (Karen), Gregory (Greg) McCann (Maureen), Jennifer McGinley (Thomas), Andrew McCann (Elizabeth) and grandchildren, Emily, William, Erin, Patrick, Connor, Matthew, Charlotte, Henry, Kathleen, Cara and Maeve.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Verona Volunteer Fire Department, 880 Bloomfield Ave., Verona, NJ 07044 or the West Essex First Aid Squad, P. O. Box 662, West Caldwell, NJ 07007-0662 would be greatly appreciated.
