Memorial Service Set For Deborah Coffey Franklin

A memorial service will be held in Verona on Saturday, May 22, for Deborah Coffey Franklin, a former resident who passed away in Cape Coral, Fla. on February 27 after a brief illness.

There will be visitation at Prout Funeral Home from 1 to 3 p.m. on May 22 with a service at 2:30 p.m. Facial masks and social distancing will be required.

Born in Orange, N.J. to Leonard and Lorraine (nee Wright) Coffey, Debbie grew up in Verona. She graduated from Verona High School Class of 1968 and attended Trenton State College (now The College of New Jersey). She forged many cherished and lifelong friendships from her high school and college years.

Debbie worked for the former, Economics Press, Inc. in Fairfield, NJ for many years and later for her brother at Coffey Machinery, Inc.

She married Kenneth Franklin 37 years ago in Verona. They lived in Basking Ridge, N.J. and Pomona, N.Y. before moving to Cape Coral, FL in 2012. She loved spending time with family, friends and her faithful dog, Maggie, doting on her grandson, Owen, playing bridge, walking and an occasional golf outing.

She was predeceased by her parents and brother, Thomas Coffey.

Debbie is survived by her loving family, husband, Kenneth; daughter, Laura Herrera and her husband, Blake; stepchildren, Christopher and Lisa Franklin and Matthew and Margaret Franklin; grandchildren, Owen, Steven, Andrew, Jessica, Maya, Jack and Kerry. She is also survived by her brother, Dennis Coffey (Virginia); niece/godchild, Kathy C. McLaughlin; niece, Melissa C. Ingraham; nephew, Thomas Coffey; and her best buddy dog, Maggie.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory to the Cape Coral Friends of Wildlife, the Cape Coral Animal Shelter or an animal shelter of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
