Dear Editor:
I am sending this message to urge all Verona voters to re-elect Jack McEvoy to the Town Council on Tuesday May 11th. As many of your readers may know I have had the opportunity to serve on the Council for the past 10 years, the last 4 with Jack. My history with him goes back to right before I was elected in 2011. He and his wife Jess were fixtures at the council meetings. It was instantly apparent to me that Jack was a very special person and an excellent representative in expressing what the citizens of Verona wanted from their elected officials. When he got up to express an opinion at a meeting you knew it would be meaningful and often insightful. When he decided to run four years ago I was elated and grateful that he won and joined the Council. His background as a lifelong resident, experience as a small businessman, a building inspector and familiarity with commercial property in town has proven to be invaluable in my opinion.
My wife, Val, and I were elated that he decided to run again. Speaking from experience that involves a very big commitment and really demonstrates his love of his hometown.
On top of his numerous qualifications he is also just a great person who I am happy to call a friend.
