Dear Editor,

Growing up, I was fortunate to have a father who was a great storyteller. Prior to his passing in 2004, I recall one conversation where Dad shared stories from growing up in Verona. As he finished, he looked at me, and said, “Monica, show up.” Dad loved this town, as do I. Verona. It’s home. It’s family. It’s neighbors.

When I moved back to Verona four years ago and decided to buy a home here, one of the first people to show up and welcome me home was Jack McEvoy. I’ve known Jack for most of my life. First as the brother of one of my best friends, and now as a friend and neighbor.

I’m supporting Jack for this year’s Town Council for an important reason that matters most to me, and should matter to you: Jack, like my father and me, believes in showing-up and helping Verona, helping our community. He doesn’t just say he will do it, he does it. I can count on him, and I know Verona can count on him to ensure our community continues to thrive and be the best it can be.

Jack has the character, integrity, knowledge, and temperament to lead Verona, and to lead us in improving our infrastructure, along with preserving our ideals and our environment.

Jack doesn’t focus on tag lines, like inclusivity and diversity, because he lives it. I know because as a gay woman, he has been supportive of me and LGBTQ individuals. Bottom-line, Jack cares about all our neighbors. I believe he is the right person to continue to lead our Town Council.

On May 11th, I ask my Verona friends and neighbors to ‘show up’ and vote for Jack McEvoy.

Sincerely,
Monica Vincent
Verona, NJ
