To the Editor:
Michael Nochimson served Verona very well in the past, bringing his can-do attitude and insightful questioning that saved Verona money while expanding services. For example, Michael was one of the most outspoken Council members advocating to increase shared services with the VBOE and nearby towns. In addition, Michael had the guts to question the actions of the former town manager as well as reduce expenses to help keep municipal taxes down. I believe Michael has the financial savvy and questioning approach that Verona needs to help our downtown fully recover from the pandemic while simultaneously improving quality-of-life factors such as traffic, parking, walkability and biking.
I know that some people vote for Town Council based on their political party affiliation. I believe that running local municipalities like Verona has little to do with political affiliation, but rather has more to do with the ability to listen, understand budgets and town issues, and ask good questions. Michael is an excellent listener and is willing to hear the other side. He has proven that he has all of the above qualities from his prior service to the town, and I believe Verona would benefit from his experience and dedication once again. Vote line 5A for Nochimson!
