Ms. Louise C. Stewart, 90, of Verona, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2021 at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Paterson.

Visiting will be held in the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Ave., Verona on Thursday, April 22, 2021 from 10 to 11 a.m. with a service at 11 a.m. Facial masks must be worn and social distancing observed.

Born in East Orange, Louise was a lifelong resident of Verona, graduating from Verona High School, Class of 1948. She worked as the assistant tax collector for the Township of Verona for 28 years, retiring in 1976.

She was a charter member of the Verona Historical Society and served as secretary-treasurer of the Verona Senior Citizen Housing Corporation. She was also an enthusiastic and supportive member of the First Congregational Church of Verona, serving as secretary and member of the Church Council.

Louise enjoyed athletic pursuits, particularly golf and bowling, excelling in the latter.

She is predeceased by her parents, William A. and L. Celia (nee Bowne) Stewart and her brother, William A. Stewart, Jr.

Louise is survived by many devoted friends, particularly her loving caregivers, Arlene and Marlene.
