Joyce Coyne (nee Felece) died peacefully on April 9, 2021, at the age of 91, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on October 18, 1929 in Syracuse, N.Y., to Helen and John Felece. It was there that she eventually met Jack and they were married in 1955. They continued to live in Syracuse until 1957, at which time, due to Jack’s job transfer, they relocated to Bloomfield, N.J.

In 1961 Joyce, Jack and their young family settled in Verona, where they lived for 33 years. During that time, Joyce and Jack were active in their parish at Our Lady of The Lake as lectors, liturgy chairpersons, and RENEW and CFM members.

Born the week before Black Thursday, Joyce was a true child of the Great Depression and was instilled with a strong work ethic. She worked her entire life in various secretarial and executive assistant positions, mostly in the fields of banking and education. Upon her retirement in 1995, as the assistant to the superintendent of the Montclair Board of Education, she and Jack moved to Toms River. There they continued their spiritual journey as communicants of St. Maximillian Kolbe RC Church. Following Jack’s passing in 2018, Joyce moved to Sunrise Senior Living in Randolph, N.J.

Everywhere Joyce lived she cultivated true and lasting friendships and touched many lives with her kindness and generosity. She valued her family more than anything. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She will be missed by everyone who knew her especially her loving family.

Joyce is survived by her daughter, Mary Kay Leddy and her husband Lee of Spring Lake, her son Phil Coyne and his wife Julia of Mine Hill, N.J., and three dear grandchildren, Jack Coyne, Casey Leddy and Margaret Leddy. She is also survived by her cherished nephews and nieces, Joseph C. Felece, his wife Barbara and their son Colin, John S. Felice, Mary Jo Felice, James X. Felice and Donna DeSchamp, and her husband Will, all of the Boston area.

In addition to her parents, Joyce was predeceased by her brothers Joseph F. Felece and Charles A. Felice, and her loving husband of 62 years John (Jack).

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Thursday, April 15, 2021 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Rd., Toms River. A mass will be celebrated Thursday, April 15, at 12 p.m. at the St. Maximilian Kolbe RC Church, with an interment of cremains to follow at the Christ the King Mausoleum.
