Beginning next week, the Township of Verona will transport Verona residents age 60 and older to get a COVID-19 vaccine from Essex County.
Verona will use its Senior Transportation Bus to pick up residents at their homes and bring them to the Steven Adubato Sports Complex in Branch Brook Park for vaccination, and then transport them back home. Transportation will be offered on Monday and Wednesday mornings.
The county will be administering the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, which requires only one dose.
Approximately 10 people will be able to register per week.
To register, call the Verona Department of Community Services at 973-857-4832, Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and noon. Residents will be asked for their insurance information but if they do not have insurance, the cost of the vaccine will be covered by the federal government.
