The Verona High School wrestling team travelled to Belleville yesterday, but could not bring home a win. The Buccaneers took the match 46-36, leaving Verona’s record at 2-4 on the season.

Still there were bright spots on the afternoon. Jake Ferry, who competes at 138 pounds, pinned Franco Russomanno in just 1:11. It took Dean Palmer (145) only a few seconds longer to pin Matias Lopez. John Pavia also won by pin, taking care of Christian Vitale in 3:45. There were also three Verona wins by forfeit.

Verona wrestling will be back on the mats on Thursday afternoon, with a 4 p.m. match against Orange.
