Garbage collection is getting back to normal after the storm–sort of. There will be a pickup for residents south of Bloomfield Avenue on Thursday and a regular pickup north of the avenue on Friday. Northside commingled recycling will also be picked up on Thursday.
But the town said today that because some roads remain narrowed by the snow, there will be changes to collection times. Garbage trucks will begin pickup at 3 a.m. so that their work can be well underway before cars hit the roads. Also, the town asks that you put your garbage can in a visible location the night before.
“We apologize for the brief noise interruption and any inconvenience this may cause,” the town said in a note distributed through the Nixle alert system, “however we believe this is the safest method for traffic and Waste Industries employees.” The town said that it anticipates resuming normal collection times next week.
