The Verona Public Library will have Marcia Gloster read from her latest novel, Voices from a Distant Room, in a live, virtual event on Sunday, February 21, 2 p.m.

Gloster shared an excerpt from the novel with the readers of MyVeronaNJ.com last May, to help them get through what were then the early days of the coronavirus pandemic. “It’s my hope that Voices from a Distant Room,” she wrote, “will whisk you far away to a time of magic and romance, and provide several hours of entertainment and well-needed distraction.” Gloster spent more than four years writing the novel. “Although it begins with a casual meeting that evolves into a romance,” she said, “the characters have no idea that not only have they met in past lives, but that deep mysteries, including spirits, ghosts and a murderous demon await them … and not for the first time.”

Gloster has lived in Verona for more than 20 years and is the author of two other books: 31 Days: A Memoir of Seduction, the story of an affair she had had as a 20-year-old art student with a married painter, and I Love You Today, a novel about the rise of a young woman through Madison Avenue’s male-dominated businesses. Gloster is also a painter with a degree from the Rhode Island School of Design who became an art director at publishing and advertising firms in New York City.

The book reading will be a virtual event and you can register for it here.
