Mr. Gerard M. Barone, Sr., 81, of Little Egg Harbor Township died on January 16, 2021 at the Southern Ocean Medical Center in Stafford Township surrounded by his loving family.

Visiting in the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona will be on Thursday, January 21 from 5 to 7 p.m.

A funeral mass will be offered in Our Lady of the Lake Church, Lakeside Ave., Verona on Friday, January 22 at 10 a.m. Facial masks and strict social distancing will be required for visiting and Mass.

Born and raised in Newark, Mr. Barone graduated from Bloomfield Tech and lived in Verona for 34 years prior to moving to Little Egg Harbor Township in 2005.

He worked for the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier for 35 years at the Roseville Branch in Newark prior to retiring in 1999 and was a member of the North Ward Italian American Club.

Mr. Barone was predeceased by his parents, Alessandro and Geraldine (nee Caputo) Barone; his daughter, Maria Barone; son-in-law, Michael Malfettano and sister, Annamaria Donnamaria.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Anne Marie (nee Morris) Barone; loving children, Maureen Malfettano, Michael Barone (Maria), James Barone (Kim) and Tara Intili (Joe); and grandchildren, Stephanie, Alyssa, Heather, Gianna, Dominic and Gerard.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Verona PBA Local 72, P.O. Box 72, Verona NJ 07044 would be appreciated.
