Mrs. Clare Esser (nee Walsh), 84, died on January 1, 2021 in Pequannock Township, N.J.
A funeral mass will be offered at Our Lady of the Lake Church, 32 Lakeside Avenue, Verona on Tuesday, January 5 at 10 a.m. Facial masks and distancing strictly observed.

Born and raised in the Bronx, Mrs. Esser earned her bachelor’s degree from St. Joseph College and her master’s degree from Fordham University and worked as a registered nurse and teacher. In 1968 she moved to Verona and devoted her time to raising her family.
Mrs. Esser was a devoted Christian who enjoyed her Catholic faith, prayed the Rosary, believed in the Right to Life and took care of the altar linens at Our Lady of the Lake Church.
Mrs. Esser was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Catherine Walsh, daughter, Christine Esser, sister, Elizabeth Garofalo and her husband, Josef C. Esser.
She is survived by her daughters, Laureen Esser, Monica Esser (Eric Katz), Beryl Stocker (John) and Kelly Vasile (Massimo), sisters, Mary Herdman, Catherine McEneny and Agnes Riva and nine grandchildren.
