Joseph J. Calabrese, “Joe Cal,” passed over peacefully at home on Christmas morning.

“Joe Cal” grew up and lived most of his life in Verona. He was the quintessential businessman and a friend to all. Everyone absolutely loved him. Joe was an accomplished jeweler following in his grandfather and father’s footsteps, a graduate of the Gemological Institute in New York City, and he was an expert jeweler and designer. He also worked in affiliation with UBS in Fairfield for many years. Joe was a devoted Catholic who attended daily mass and also served as a deacon at Our Lady of the Lake Church in Verona. Joe served as a board member for the YMCA Youth development committee.

Joe was predeceased by his parents Carlo and Carol.

He is survived by his beloved partner Paulette DiPaolo, her children Tyler and Colby and their pooch Luna; Joe’s siblings Carlo (Annie), Donna, Vincent Janine, and Michael; Paulette’s siblings Patrick and Peter; as well as his adoring nieces and nephews Alexis, Jerry, Alyssa, Jacquleen, Carlo, John, Vanessa, Danielle, Julia, Helene, Jamie; great-nieces Avery and Kylie; and great-nephews Mason and Carson.

Visitation will be held at Our Lady of the Lake Church on Wednesday December 30, beginning at 9 a.m. followed by a mass at 10 a.m. Please note that there is a 150-person limit in the church, and facial masks and distancing are strictly observed. Please use the ramp door in the rear of the church.
