Not all of the construction work funded by the 2019 referendum has been completed yet, but the school district wants the public to see what things look like so far. It created the video below to take everyone inside the six school buildings.
In a note to school parents late last week, Superintendent Dr. Rui Dionisio said that the window replacement at H.B. Whitehorne Middle School and F.N. Brown Elementary School are now slated for December and the installation will occur after students are out of the buildings. The district is in negotiations for the HVAC work at the elementary schools and HBW, and Dionisio said he hopes to have a status update on that in the near future. The COVID-19 pandemic has caused shortages in construction materials and contractors, which affected both the window replacement and the HVAC work.
The school district is posting construction updates to its website and is discussing them at Board of Education meetings. The public can also track the status of every referendum project on this spreadsheet.
