This past April was the fourth anniversary of the food pantry at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit, and the church was supposed to have held its annual Fish Fry fundraiser for the pantry then. It was cancelled because of the COVID-19 outbreak, but Holy Spirit has figured out a way to do a socially distanced Fish Fry and it will be held this coming Friday, November 6, from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

Here’s how they’re going to do it. People will need to register in advance and since all the fish frying is being done by Argyle Catering, the church would like to get registrations in by Tuesday, November 3, which is tomorrow.

You can then pay online (with credit card or bank account or Venmo ) or you can bring cash or check on the night of the event. The cost is $15 for adults and $10 for children under age 12, and homemade desserts are included.

On Friday, you need to go to the church to pick up your meal. You will check in at the registration table in the church parking lot, and then Holy Spirit will ask you to return to your car and one of its volunteers will bring the meals to you as soon as they are ready.

Holy Spirit’s food pantry has been serving a growing number of families since the outbreak of COVID-19. Some 110 families were served in September. The Food Pantry is open from 9 to 11 a.m. on the fourth Saturday of every month and anyone in need is welcome. If you need assistance in an emergency before this date, please contact the church office at [email protected] or leave a voicemail at (973) 239-2850 to make arrangements. You can also drop off items for the pantry in the box by the side door. The list of current needs is here.
