The news website New Jersey Globe will host a debate between Rosemary Becchi and Rep. Mikie Sherrill, the candidates for New Jersey’s 11th congressional district, on Sunday, October 11 at 9 p.m.
Verona is one of the towns in the 11th congressional district, which includes portions of Morris, Pasaic, Essex and Sussex counties.
Becchi, the Republican candidate, is a former IRS attorney who also worked as a lobbyist for the financial services industry. While serving on the U.S. Senate Finance Committee as tax counsel, she co-authored the bill that created the so-called 529 college savings plans.
Sherrill, the Democratic incumbent, was elected to Congress in 2018 after defeating state Assemblyman Jay Webber. In Congress, she has been part of the centrist New Democrat Coalition and the Blue Dog Coalition. The record of her votes and legislation is here. A Navy veteran, Sherrill previously served as an assistant U.S. attorney for the District of New Jersey and was an attorney in private practice.
The debate will take place online. You can follow it through New Jersey Globe’s website, Facebook page or YouTube channel.
