Mrs. Maud (nee Hays) Werner, 86, died peacefully on September 6, 2020 at her home in Verona, surrounded by her loving family.
Services and interment will be private.
Born and raised in West Orange, Mrs. Werner lived in East Orange/Orange prior to moving to Verona where she lived for over 60 years.
She graduated from West Orange High School. Prior to her career as a loving homemaker, she was a secretary for New Jersey Bell Telephone and McGraw-Hill Publishing Company. She also taught piano lessons.
She was an avid gardener, expert knitter and attended both the Verona and Caldwell Presbyterian Churches where she sang in the choir. She was a member of the PEO church organization.
Mrs. Werner is predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Raymond E. Werner; her parents, Frank V. Hays, II and Esther Hays; her brother, Frank V. Hays, III; and her sister-in-law, Marie Phillips.
She is survived by her loving children, Lynn Tucci (Michael), Joanne Egan (Thomas), David Werner (Tracy) and Suzanne Satterfield (Roger); cherished grandchildren (7) and great-grandchildren (1 on the way). She is also survived by her brother, Robert Hays and wife Helen; her sister-in-law, Loretta Hays; and her brother-in-law, Ron Phillips.
